What is a Barebone PC?

Barebone PCs or assembled PCs have significantly gained popularity over the last decade due to their customizability, aesthetics, and cost-effectiveness. Whether they are working professionals, pro gamers, YouTubers, or students, desktop PCs made on an assembled platform are preferred by everyone. Although barebone PCs and assembled are often understood as the same, there is a slight difference.

While assembled PCs are the ones that are made from scratch and the buyer has to carefully choose and buy each and every component by themselves. Barebone PCs often come with certain parts such as a motherboard, power supply, processor, and a small PC cabinet. And users can choose and customize other components such as graphic cards, RAM, storage, etc. But the question arises why do these incomplete products exist and what is it that they offer that many customers prefer? Let’s find out!

Barebone is Highly Customizable

The primary reason for the high sale of barebone PCs is that they are highly customizable. Even in a scenario where you are not satisfied with the preinstalled components, you can change them and build a PC that best suits your needs and preferences. For instance, if you are a gaming enthusiast and you want a PC that suits your gaming needs, you can easily buy and install the components that you want. And this is possibly the best that it can get in any possible way.

Barebone is Economic

Many big brands sell their prebuilt desktop PCs at way higher prices and when you start calculating the price of each component individually, you’ll see that the competitive cost of the whole PC is way lower than the quoted price. This happens because established brands often charge higher prices on the basis of their brand value, unnecessary features, and expensive PC cabinets (at least they look expensive).

On the other hand, this is not the case with barebone as you can comfortably calculate the price of the whole configuration beforehand, and build a PC that precisely suits your needs and fits your budget.

Barebone is Easy to Upgrade

Being highly customizable also means that you can easily upgrade your barebone PC. If you are careful about your near-future needs, then you know how you can initially save money on the fundamental components and later on upgrade your PC.

For instance, you are building a professional editing PC and you already know that you might have to invest in a high-end graphics card later on. In this case, instead of buying an average graphic card (due to lack of funds or unavailability), you can build your PC with all the other essential components and wait for some time. And when the time comes, you can just buy the new graphic card and install it directly onto your barebone. And since you’ve already installed everything latest or of similar generation (DDR), you don’t have to worry about the compatibility as well.

Building a barebone was something that was probably never thought of in the early days of computers. Who knew that the tech could evolve so much that people would start building their own PCs, all by themselves. One of the established brands in India, Geonix offers possibly every component that you can use for building your barebone. And the best thing is that Geonix itself manufactures the majority of components such as RAM, motherboard, risers, SSDs, etc.
